This opportunity is for a UC / UI Design Engineer to work with our User Experience Team in the Digital Media Systems Business Unit (DMSBU) within our Emerging Technologies Group. This business unit is focused on new growth areas for Cisco in the area of enterprise video and digital media space for applications like VOD, webcasting, and digital signage. In this position you will work closely with user researchers, peer interaction designers, product managers and software engineers to define the user experience of Cisco Digital Media System software UIs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Capture user personas and task scenarios.
• Define user interaction models and work-flows.
• Help drive product direction based on field research and functional requirements.
• Generate UI mock ups from paper-and-pencil concepts to wire-frame designs to high-fidelity prototypes that convey the interaction model.
• Document User Interface Specifications.
• Work with usability engineers to design and conduct usability studies.
• Work closely with engineers to deliver the final product.
• Facilitate project communication across a multi-disciplinary team throughout all phases of the project.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 5+ years of experience designing software-user interfaces.
• Demonstrated ability to understand technical (networking) concepts and structure UIs that simplify these concepts.
• Excellent time-management, multi-tasking ability, and the ability to prioritize.
• Ability to quickly understand and communicate complex system and design concepts.
• Strong visual and verbal communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate in a cross-functional team.
• Experience designing desktop and Web-based applications.
• Master's degree in Human Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Human Factors, Industrial Design or related field or equivalent experience.

Web 2.0 Video Applications Developer
This position will be in Physical Security Business Unit (PSBU) within Cisco's Emerging Technologies Group where we have an opportunity for a skilled Web application developer to join our team and participate in the creation of our next generation video surveillance solution. In this position, you will participate in developing state of the art GUI software in a Web application using DHTML, AJAX, CSS, Object Oriented JavaScript, Java and PHP.
Responsibilities:
-You will join a team developing a state of the art Web application for digital video surveillance where you will develop GUI software in an advanced Web 2.0 application.
- This is a highly visible team and will be providing the key customer-facing application for our business unit.
-The application will support live and recorded MPEG-4, H.264, MPEG-2 and MJPEG video through a Web-based GUI and will offer tight integration with enterprise applications.
-Such applications include: access control, video analytics, network management and command and control.
-The application will provide a complete management system for video surveillance and security and must scale to systems with 10's of thousands of cameras and video sources.
-The application is targeting multiple markets including Casino Gaming, Transportation Systems, Retail Chains, Banking and Public Sector.
Requirements:
- 5+ years commercial experience in developing non-trivial Web applications
- Strong software design and development expertise
