Advanced Services Video Optimization Service (VOS) Architect

An Advanced Services Video Optimization Service (VOS) Architect is responsible for engaging with VOS clients to systematically determine issues, recommend solutions and execute agreed upon optimizations to client video networks and systems. This individual should be equally qualified to work in a lone role and in a team environment with little or no management supervision. This person may also play role in several engagements simultaneously. Client engagements may vary from several months to several years.

Duties:
- Act as an overall system expert for client networks and systems to give technical direction to the system Video Optimization Service (VOS) engagements.
- Be able to perform engineering level maintenance, testing and configuration activities.
- Participate in and organize conference calls and act as the team's technical representative.
- Analyze and understand customer networks in order to recommend strategies to optimize the function of video networks that can be hybrid fiber RF based, hybrid fiber/IP video based or complete IP video based.
- Interface with the customers on a regular base related to product and system testing.
- Act as a liaison between the customer, Product Engineering and Business Units.
- Interface with internal Project Management.
- Perform internal and customer facing presentations and training.
- Create weekly status updates and reports to Management.
- Create written project analysis and recommendations for VOS customers and create written project summaries.
- Help manage analysis and testing timelines to avoid project impact.
- Create a team atmosphere to facilitate the overall function of the VOS team.
- Operate with the highest level of integrity, ethical behavior, and professionalism and set example for others to follow.
- Travel- typical 10-50%.

Skill set:
- Complex problem identification, debugging, and resolution.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or computer science required.
- 8-10+ yrs experience required with demonstrated success in integrating, testing, deploying, and supporting video and IP network systems.
- Extensive experience required with software and network computing architectures.
- Proficient in MPEG2/MPEG4 and video related concepts.
- Advanced working knowledge required of video headend, earth stations and broadband transport systems.
- Detailed understanding of video systems operations activities.
- Detailed understanding of video delivery processes required.
- Detailed understanding of IP networking required. CCNA minimum.
- Good presentation skills and interpersonal skills required.

Preferred
- Demonstrated success implementing network and system management tools preferred.
- Master's desired.
- CCNP or higher

Linux Systems Administrator - Atlanta, GA

Cisco seeks an experienced Systems Administrator to join our team.

This person will Support networks and servers used for product development and maintenance activities. Provide user and system support for engineering desktop/laptop systems, workstations, servers and terminals. Assist in the designing, building and improvement of lab networks. Specify, purchase, install and maintain network equipment such as cables, printers, tape drives, etc. Install and configure UNIX/PC system software, modifying where necessary. Perform server back-ups and restores as required, potentially at any time. Set up experiments on networks, servers or systems to isolate and identify failures. Resolve user setup, network, server and software problems using a wide variety of communication vehicles. Document network topologies, equipment locations and processes. Process requests from user community. Troubleshoot and install programs and scripts to manage the computing environment. Ensure systems specification documents show compliance with industry standards.

*Member of a team that ensures systems support at all times, on-call either rotational or as required.

Complete duties of a higher complexity and can act as Team Lead. Provide complete server, PC and lab network support for all designated networks. Design new lab networks and increase capacity/performance on existing networks. Lab test bed setup for new product teams. Inventories of lab network assets. Installs and maintains new routers, switches, hubs, patches, comservers, and terminals, R&D lab backbones. Troubleshoot lab network problems. Configure internetworking equipment interfaces, routing and access lists.

Upgrades lab networks with additional processors, interfaces and memory, updates to current OS. Provide lab network capacity planning and design of new networking topologies. Provide feedback on capacity planning and budgeting. Assist in the introduction of new products and process into the lab environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Must have 5+ years experience in a Systems Administrator role.
Extensive Unix experience
Experience in a RedHat and Solaris environment
Product Support experience is highly desired.
