Cisco is looking for a Pre-Sales engineer in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area to be focused on selling its Content Security Portfolio products, which comprise mainly the former Ironport and ScanSafe product lines.
Cisco Content Security Systems Engineers work very closely with their sales team. The Systems Engineer is responsible to help accelerate the closing of business within the sales territory.
This position encompasses sales engineering, project management, network design, integration engineering and pre sales customer support responsibilities.
The Systems Engineer engages with the customer from the point of pre-sales evaluation through all technical planning and evaluation processes until the purchase order is received. The Systems Engineer is responsible for customer satisfaction throughout the process. The Systems Engineer routinely handles customer issues that arise.
This position covers Minnesota, Wisconsin, South Dakota & North Dakota Enterprise regions. Travel within the assigned territory will be required, mostly focused on Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Primary responsibilities:
o Technical lead to design, migrate, deploy and support new data center technologies
o Partner with service and delivery teams – establish credibility and capability regarding configuration and deployment of world class datacenter environment
o Work closely with engineering and service teams to define technical configuration and best practices to optimize Cisco technology in a modern datacenter environment
o Identify and support new service opportunities. Participate in developing and delivering strategic initiatives through prioritization and development of key activities, assist tools and technical implementation programs
o Develop and nurture strong data center design, operations, and strategy
o Develop and present best practices, technical concepts and technologies for innovative computing solutions
o Utilize subject matter expertise in area of enterprise applications, solutions and data center infrastructures to evaluate complex, sensitive business problems and build data center solutions
o Articulate the technical merits and value of data center virtualization to Cisco clients.
o Provide knowledge transfer to clients regarding how to best architect, deploy and operate their environment
o Document information to serve as base for training, appropriate technical operations, run books and knowledge objects
o Work with all components on Cisco including Marketing, Legal, Sales, and Operations
o Interact with 3rd party and partner resources such as engineers, sales teams, and channel managers
Consulting skills required:
o Strong customer-interaction skills and ability to quickly create excitement with data center personnel, establish credibility and work collaboratively with technical professionals
o Strong written, verbal and white board skills
o Ability to manage multiple customer engagements simultaneously
o Proven experience in a technical consulting capacity
o Must be able to travel with limited notice to support customer engagements
Broad technical knowledge of the data center and the three infrastructure pillars: Storage/SAN, Network and Compute/Server.
Candidate should have Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) skill level or above to be considered for this role. A CCNA with substantial hands-on experience will also be considered. Candidate should also be comfortable in working towards the achievement of Data Center Unified Computing Support Specialist (DCUCI).
Preferred Experience with Cisco Technologies include:
• Nexus 7K, 5K, 2K, and 1000v
• MDS 9xxx
• Unified Computing Services
• ACE/WAAS
Preferred Experience with 3rd party technologies include:
• BMC / Bladelogic
