Software Architect - Query Engine

The Data Virtualization Business Unit is looking for an experienced technical leader with considerable expertise in query processing. The successful candidate will have experience in building database engines, either SQL or XQuery. The candidate must be well versed in query optimization techniques, both heuristic and cost based optimizations. Responsibilities will include enhancing the query engine optimizer for handling federated data sources, including relational and application sources etc. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design, implement and maintain the query engine subsystem of our industry leading federation engine. There will be opportunities around building a query engine for distributed query processing.

The server is implemented by a multi-million line source base in Java, so the ability to understand and integrate with existing code is an absolute must. The core runtime is a complex multi-threaded system and the successful candidate will demonstrate complete expertise in handling features geared towards concurrent transactions in a low latency, high throughput and scalable server environment. The candidate will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with leading database experts in building the most robust, scalable and high performing database server.

Required Skills

10+ years programming experience
5+ years of Java based server side experience
3+ years of multithreading experience
5+ years of SQL compiler and processing experience
Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Experience with all lifecycle aspects of enterprise commercial software

This team is adding an “A player” Technical Leader within engineering.



The Data Virtualization Business Unit is looking for an experienced technical lead with considerable expertise in query processing. The successful candidate will have experience in building database engines, either SQL or XQuery. The candidate must be well versed in implementing SQL operators and/or XQuery operators within database engines. Responsibilities will include enhancing the query execution engine for handling various operators, functions, types etc in SQL domain, and also designing the capabilities for a parallel execution engine. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design, implement and maintain the execution engine subsystem of our industry leading federation engine.

Job Description

Providing consulting services in this customer-focused role, The Principal Security Strategist is a hybrid of roles: practitioner, trusted advisor, researcher, evangelist, customer advocate, account strategist, team leader, and product development consultant. We are committed to customer success in the constantly changing business and security threat landscape by providing industry-leading, expert advice and support. The Principal Security Strategist will be embedded with a few large multinational customers and will partner with the Security Center of Excellence, Security Practice, dedicated account teams, product organizations, and marketing.

Candidates must have a deep technical capability in multiple areas: Security Operations, Incident Response, Security Metrics Programs, Forensics, Research, Threat Detection, Penetration Testing, Security Product/Service Development, Cyber Security Legal, Compliance, and Security Assessments.
