Human Factors Principal

We have a current opening for a Human Factors Principal to work in our TelePresence Systems Business Unit which is part of Cisco's Emerging Markets Technology Group.

You will be the principal user advocate for Telepresence, a virtual presence experience that uses advanced visual, audio, and interactive technologies to create an in person experience at a virtual conference table. Telepresence is one of the more recent examples of how Cisco is changing the way we work, live, play, and learn.

The qualified candidate will hold a PhD or Masters degree in Human Factors, Psychology, Behavioral Science or related field and have work related experience in Human Machine Interaction or Usability. This exceptional Principle Human Factors Analyst will own and be responsible for creating innovative user interface within the Telepresence team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide leadership to Human Factors team on process, tools and methodologies.
Provide design thought leadership, lead execution of the design vision for products, working collaboratively with customers, engineering, and product management for machine usability and software UI design.
Development of human-computer interactions based on user requirements.
Drive interface prototyping, usability testing, and usability inspections.
Discuss prototypes with developers and test with consumers.
Help in defining cross-application interface design elements.
Assist in test plan development, equipment and software setup, logging of test activities, production of summary videos, and documentation of test results.
Conduct usability inspections.
Develop multiple techniques to conduct user centered research: field visits, observation, interviews, cognitive walkthrough, and contextual inquiry.

REQUIREMENTS
Proven track record of identifying and communicating human factor requirements for consumer products with demonstrated critical acclaim.
A background in human factors or in graphic or computer science, psychology, engineering, or technical writing, with a strong interest in human-computer interaction.
Experience designing, conducting, and analyzing human factors experiments in the consumer products market.
Experience working within large hi-tech companies with interdisciplinary teams, as well as experience in graphical interface projects required.
Experience in performing usability testing, focus groups, producing storyboards, task analysis, structured interviews, style guides, walk through analysis and design are all essential.
Demonstrate skills in collecting and analyzing human behavioral data

EDUCATION
PhD or Masters in Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology Behavioral Science or Human Computer Interaction or related field with work related experience in Human Machine Interaction or Usability.

C# Windows Developer

The Converged Secure Infrastructure Business Unit (CSIBU) offers network-centric video surveillance software and hardware that supports video transmission, monitoring, recording, and management. These products protect customers` existing investments in analog equipment while enabling these devices to operate as part of an IP network-centric deployment.

We are looking for a Senior level Windows Software Engineer/Architect with the following attributes:

*At least 5-7 years of professional Windows software development experience.

*Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements Windows software programming for Digital Video Surveillance End User Applications using .NET, C#, XML, ActiveX that interface with company`s Embedded Linux Digital Video Products and Linux Server Products.

*Fully proficient in C# software development.

*Demonstrates expertise in a variety of the Windows Web development tools, Web Services such as ASP, ASP.NET and JAVA.

*Exposure to smart client technology and .NET web development would be a plus.

*Understands Unicast/Multicast Video/Audio network communications.

*Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

*A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

*Ability to work in a fast-paced development team.

*Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to interact with other team members within the organization.

*Good Troubleshooting technical skills

Hardware Engineer, Sourcing

This position generally requires the following skills:

Acts as a project lead in development of Audio and video products with ODM suppliers for the video conferencing market.

The person must be technically proficient in defining technical specification, product design/development and test of hardware to develop products working with engineering team at ODM suppliers to meet worldwide compliance requirements.

Consults with in-house packaging and other compliance engineers during design process to ensure compliance requirements will be met.

May negotiate EMC issues with International/European compliance agencies.

Utilizes national and international EMC test specification to conduct technical surveillance of products for global EMC compliance.

Verifies and enforces design validation test standards and processes such as Cisco's packaging, environmental, EDVT and MDVT requirements.

Generally requires four to seven years experience in the following areas:

1. Working with ODM suppliers in development of consumer products such as displays, cameras, microphone, projectors etc. Must be technically competent in product development in this space taking product requirements from specifications , various development phases and into production.

2. Work closely with cross functional teams during development process. Must have project management skills.

3.Identify and resolve design issues promptly to meet cost and time to market goals.

4. Previous experience working with far-east ODM suppliers. Proficiency in Mandarin a plus.

Typically requires MSEE/CS combined with 5-7 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 7-10+ yrs related experience.
