As one of the newly incubated business units in ETG, the TelePresence Exchange Business Unit (TXBU) is responsible for creating and delivering the services ecosystem that surrounds the dynamic TelePresence product line. In essence, TXBU enables the vision of TelePresence services for everyone. The initial development efforts for the BU include the creating of a publicly facing network to enable “Inter-company” TelePresence calls – delivered as a Service to our present TelePresence customers. This public TelePresence service will be a huge disruptive market opportunity for Cisco, which is why we can certainly see at least a $1B dollar business within the next 5-7 years. As such, our leaders need to have solid and relevant experience with scalable products and services as well as a passion to do the next “big” thing.
Job Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities for this position include providing technical leadership, developing a test process and executing on required testing for our software services. It is expected that the selected candidate will develop this methodology in a hands-on manner and then recruit a team of testers (over time) to implement this testing strategy. We expect to execute on this testing methodology and to deliver those results to the over-arching CDO quality metric framework.
Most of the testing will be focused on a set of web-based applications that we are developing as part of our TXBU Service for TelePresence. For these web interfaces, we need to develop a unit test approach, system functional test, performance testing as well as a regression test suite. We expect that most of these approaches can be automated in a manner to allow scale across a broad range of test releases. We believe strongly that the candidate will need to develop code and scripts to help develop the level of automation expected.
The candidate will also be responsible for creating a software test lab and planning for the administration of this resource as the TXBU service continues to grow. Any prior experience with developing network oriented testing software is considered a strong plus, especially in the area of TelePresence and IP conferencing in general.
The selected test leader will work closely with the TXBU management team in developing the appropriate test process and related budget. In addition, the candidate should be aware of rapid development environments like Agile and Scrum. Finally, it is expected that this lead will present object quality results to the ETG leadership team on a periodic basis.
