This opening is for a Senior Hardware Engineer, to Design Audio Microphone Arrays for the Consumer TelePresence Unit of Cisco's Emerging Technologies Group (ETG).
Consumer TelePresence is a new Business Unit being incubated in ETG, leveraging technology developed for our enterprise TelePresence product, the fastest growing product in Cisco’s history, CTBU will bring to market a breakthrough, consumer version of TelePresence which will provide a unique, in-person experience when communicating with friends and relatives over the internet.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with Marketing to develop product proposals.
- Specify requirements for microphone arrays. Select the key hardware and software IP, and implement the design.
- Generate system functional specifications. Gain consensus on the key trade offs and drive their adoption.
- Develop detailed design specifications. Implement boards, and programmable logic designs. Hands-on debug and integration.
- Set direction on hardware qualification & manufacturing test.
- Work closely with a cross functional team, from concept through system integration to product launch.
Experience Required:
- 3-5 years experience developing high-volume consumer products.
- Expertise and proven track record with microphone technology, including MEMS transducers and algorithms for microphone-array processing, echo cancellation, and noise reduction.
- Expert at optimizing mechanical enclosure acoustic performance.
- Design experiments to set up, test, calibrate and qualify microphone array implementations.
- Ability to debug and root cause complex system level bugs.
- Experience with board and (Verilog) FPGA design.
- Excellent documentation, written and verbal communication skills.
- MSEE/CS combined with 7-10 years of related experience, or BSEE/CS combined with 10+ yrs related experience.
