We have a current opening for a SIP Engineer to work in the TelePresence System Business Unit (TSBU) of our Emerging Technology Group ETG.
TelePresence is a virtual presence experience that uses advanced visual, audio, and interactive technologies to create an in person experience at a virtual conference table. TelePresence is one of the more recent examples of how Cisco is changing the way we work, live, play, and learn. (See the You Tube videos to the right on this recruiting blog.)
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for architecting, designing, and implementing the SIP protocol for our TelePresence system which offers an immersive visual and audio environment for virtual meetings. You will design the call flows for communicating with Cisco's Unified Call Manager as well as other SIP proxies. You will be part of the team that designs the behavior of the system including the user interface and system control. You will work with newly developed RFC's to implement state of the art SIP implementations.
Requirements:
Detailed knowledge of the SIP protocol through implementation of the protocol
Significant contribution to architecture/design/coding for a shipping SIP-based product.
Ability to architect a protocol implementation after gaining a detailed understanding of underlying platform capabilities.
Fully conversant in SIP, RTP/RTCP, RTSP and other packet-based telecom protocols.
Experience with C/C++ in a UNIX/Linux environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and cross-team collaboration skills.
Debug complex SIP call flows with IP packet capture tools
7 years experience working in Telecom with 3 or more years working on SIP and related RFC's.
Preferred:
Experience with industry standards groups.
Experience with SIP security protocols such as TLS and
Knowledge of signaling using Cisco 5.x Call Manager
