This is an excellent opportunity to join Server Access and Virtualization Business Unit (SAVBU)- Cisco's latest acquisition in the Data Center space. In this role at SAVBU, the job involves working on cutting edge UCS data center rack servers. We are looking for a technical, dynamic and self driven senior engineer who strive in a fast paced start-up like environment and lead cross functional teams and work closely with a wide variety of internal & external engineering partners to achieve OS/VMM strategic and performance goals.

Job Responsibilities:

Drive Operating system level requirements and specifications for Cisco’s UCS C-series Rack Servers
Lead the design and development of system level features.
Lead the performance and benchmarking efforts
Able to debug and analyze OS level issues.
Collaborate with OS vendors to design, develop, integrate, and validate latest system level features,

Required Skills/Experience

1. Minimum of 10-15+ years of experience with a BS CS/EE or MS CS/EE degree
2. In-depth architectural knowledge of any two of the major Operating Systems (Windows 2008 R2, ESX, and Linux (RHEL5/RHEL6/SLES10/SLES11) in the area of HAL, ACPI and other interactions with BIOS
3. Hands on experience with Intel x86 assembly and C programming.
4. General knowledge of the UEFI BIOS architecture
5. Deep understanding of ACPI, PCIe, DDR3, and Intel Virtualization Technology
6. OS/VMM Power Management knowledge
7. Proficiency in processor/Memory performance and benchmarking
8. Ability to own complex interactions with OS/VMM vendors in the area of platform architecture, CPU and Memory related issues
