In anticipation of hiring a couple Data Centre Consulting Systems Engineers in Calgary and Ottawa, Canada, I'm sharing details on the positions we would like to hire:

This role is with the Canadian Solutions Data Centre Consulting Systems Engineering (CSE) Team focusing on presales engineering activities, leveraging Cisco's products, solutions and architectures in the area of Data Centre. The CSE must work closely with the Western Canada Account Managers, Systems Engineering Managers, Systems Engineers and Regional Managers as well as Product Sales Specialists to drive business and help build Data Centre practices in Western Canada.
The Data Centre CSE will be able to speak to Cisco's strategy and vision for the data Centre at an architectural level and is also an expert in one or more of the following areas:
• Consolidation and Virtualization strategies & implementation for the Data Centre
• Operating Systems and Server Architectures as they relate to Data Centre
• Data Centre Switching and Storage systems Architectures
• Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity
• Advanced Data Centre Routing and Switching Architectures
• Application Acceleration and WAN Optimization
• Systems and application architectures
• High Performance Computing, Grid & Cluster architectures
Role Definition:
The Data Centre CSE plays a crucial role in the success of Cisco's strategy in this market segment. The Data Centre CSE should effectively articulate Cisco's Vision and Strategy of Consolidation, Virtualization and Automation. The CSE works across the assigned group and territory to deliver messaging to partners and works closely with the channel account manager team on specified opportunities from inception to closing.
The CSEs also play a critical role in leadership and development of the other team members in their area. This includes mentoring SE's and performing regular training sessions to the SE and Sales community. They also build a close working relationship cross-functionally with other Cisco organizations in order to provide a bidirectional flow of information concerning product and feature requirements, outbound marketing, partner and ecosystem education and collateral

The Data Centre CSE also posses industry knowledge of market trends and directional awareness of Cisco's product and technology development efforts.
They will work with partners in a joint sales strategy and will mentor partner engineers
The role calls for in-depth knowledge of competitive products. They are familiar with the company's ecosystems of partners used to deliver comprehensive solutions to our customer base, and maintain a general understanding of competitive selling strategies. The CSE has both a high level of technical and sales competency. They can articulate the value of a proposed system or solution at an executive level positioning the business benefits of a Cisco solution.
Typical Skill Sets:
It is expected that the CSE will bring to the table expertise and skills in one or more of key aspects of the data Centre such as:
• Data Centre routing and switching architectures including: FCoE, Fiber Channel, server farm aggregation, network and services virtualization strategies, security and encryption technologies implementation and administration.
• Networked Storage technologies including SAN, NAS, and iSCSI, WAAS, CIFS, NFS, FCIP and Ficon.
• Operating System implementation and administration in Windows, VMware, ZOS and Unix/Linux variants.
• Storage design, implementation and LUN layout strategies for applications and databases Data replication methodologies including replication and synchronization
• Data backup and recovery methodologies.
• Networking of clustering technologies including Microsoft Cluster Services, Oracle RAC, Linux and Unix clustering and Parallel Sysplex.
• Server load balancing and global server load balancing including DNS strategies and stretched cluster implementation.
• XML firewalling and the implementation of SSL for web based applications
• TCP flow optimization and acceleration
• HPC, Grid computing and clustering including RDMA technologies over various transports and associated applications.
• Understanding of barriers to Application Performance and their solutions: latency, bandwidth consumption, network congestion, packet loss, transport throughput, etc.
• Understanding of Application Delivery technologies: symmetric and asymmetric optimizations, network interception and integration
