In anticipation of hiring a couple Optical Consulting Systems Engineers in Montreal, Calgary & Toronto in Canada, I'm sharing details on a position we would like to hire:
Cisco seeks a Consulting System Engineer to drive and develop the technical business solutions and provide expertise and guidance to SP and Enterprise account teams in building Optical solutions to address specific customer needs. Understand the related industry, market dynamics and competitive landscape is important, plus someone who can articulate effectively the Cisco's solution and services. In this position, person will be working & collaborating with technology experts to help them position the solution effectively against competing offerings. Related technical knowledge is critical in Optical, ROADM/IPoDWDM, SONET/SDH, MSPP, MSTP. Familiarity with Long Haul, Regional and Metro Optical solutions as well as solution business skills is essential. The ideal candidate will have a strong communicating across all functions within Cisco, as well as with clients and partners both technical and executive level discussion and presentation. The successful candidate will be required to provide specific solution/technology/product consulting, technical and business development support for major account opportunities in Canada with preferred focus in Western Canada.
The successful candidate will understand solution business requirements for customer base and be able to translate them into technical requirements. Facilitate better communications and understanding of those requirements between customers, Cisco business units and Cisco field. Create, present and document technical solutions. Perform in-depth and high-level solution presentations for customers, partners and prospects. Drive identified major SP and enterprise account opportunities (i.e. solution consulting, executive level management presentations and Cisco technology solutions) while allowing local account team to maintain long-term ownership. Provide consultative support and mentor other less experienced Systems Engineers and Field Engineers in assigned major account opportunities..
Candidate Must have area of specialization. 10+ years related experience. Specific solution/ technology/ product positioning required or product experience in key competitor offerings would be beneficial. Pre-Sales experience required. Typically requires BS/BA (EE/CS) or equivalent. Excellent written and verbal communication. Ability to work effectively, add value as a team member. Demonstrated technical knowledge and consultative skills. Ability to train and disseminate information within an Area or Operation. Technical knowledge and consultative skills, which are above reproach. Ability to understand complex technical and selling situations and the ability to solve the problem or solicit the required resources. Knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications. Competitive knowledge (in their area of specialization) including solution, technology and product offerings with the ability to understand and be conversant about company, competitors, technologies, solutions, product strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats.
Technical Solution Skills:
1. In-depth knowledge and strong operating experience in more than one of the following solution areas: Multi-Service Access , SONET/SDH Long Haul, Regional and Metro Optical Networking (ROADM, DWDM) L2 VPN's, L3 VPNs, MPLS Security, QoS,
2. In-depth industry knowledge in the Service Provider and/or Enterprise market segment.
3. Have detailed knowledge of relevant solutions sets, product line specifications, performance criteria and applications.
4. Thorough competitive and industry knowledge (in their area of specialization) including solution, technology and product offerings.
5. Must be viewed as a leader by senior management, peers, customers and Cisco corporate organizations.
