Job role:
*Applies demonstrated product marketing engineering strategies and concepts in supporting Cisco products.
*Designs new product introduction programs, assists Program Managers with Product Requirement Documents, assists in product descriptions and implementation details.
*Supports launch activities and assists with tradeshow and system engineering training.
*Responds to initial customer inquiries.
*Conducts Business Unit level competitive analysis.
*Participates in tradeshows by providing technical demonstrations and expertise.
Typically requires BSCS or BSEE or equivalent plus 5-7 years related experience.
*Experience in providing applications support, making technical presentations and working effectively with customers.
*Working knowledge and demonstrated proficiency in product marketing engineering tools and techniques.
*In-depth understanding of general networking protocols and principles.
*Specific in-depth knowledge of Fibre Channel protocols and Storage Area Networking.
*Works independently on basic projects and under limited supervision on more advanced projects.
*Work and progress is reviewed on an ongoing basis for completion and accomplishment of objectives.
*Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to work cross-functionally and gain cooperation of others.
*Ability to identify and resolve problems of moderate complexity.
*Must have strong knowledge of Fibre Channels protocols and Storage Area Networking.
*Knowledge of Competitive storage products, IP routing and protocols, SNMP, XML a plus.
Projects are Business Unit-specific. Typically reports to Mgr, Technical Marketing I or II. Accountable to direct manager, Business Unit engineering and Product teams. Mainly interacts with direct manager, Business Unit Engineering and Product teams.
Tactical: product solution Understands and solves specific complex technical problems. Works with Product Managers and the field to understand and position competitive issues at the box level.
