The Application Delivery Business Unit (ADBU) seeks a Business Development Manager to drive channel development activities for its Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) product line. With the WAN optimization market growing rapidly, effectively engagement of Cisco channels with WAAS is critical to its success.
The ideal candidate is extremely flexible, with sales, marketing, program management and financial acumen. In this role, you will be providing guidance based on product and market data to help Cisco channel organizations understand and act on opportunities in the WAN optimization and application delivery market.
Communication skills are essential, as this position involves interaction with a wide range of Cisco functional groups. The WAAS channel BDM is responsible for defining vision, strategies and/or tactics while providing leadership in the design and implementation of business plans and marketing programs. Applies expert knowledge and understanding of all business development activities; manages new initiatives and business opportunities within Cisco channel organization. Able to represent Cisco by communicating business capabilities and strategies to external constituents.
Manages work across functions, departments or business operations. Establishes operational objectives and assignments; objectives are reviewed by senior management to determine success of operation. Influences and/or changes the thinking of, or gains acceptance of, others. Responsible for operational decisions that will affect deadlines, overall business operations and Cisco’s success; Is viewed as a product resource throughout the organization and across various functions; serves as a consultative business partner to channel partners, integrating product and business expertise. Involved in developing, modifying and executing company policies which affect immediate operations and may also have cross-functional effect
Education:

Typically requires BA or equivalent plus 8+ years related experience in marketing and business development. MBA or advanced degree strongly preferred.
Skills Required

General understanding of enterprise applications and Windows services. Familiarity with the networking industry. Preferably be aware of competitive offerings in the WAN optimization space.
Creative problem solving skills: Ability to understand channel partner requirements, translate those into business requirements and formulate alternative suggestions to address those.
Experience with interacting with channel organizations. Knowledge of sales and marketing programs to and with channel partners.
Able to communicate product and market issues clearly. Excellent written, oral and presentation skills. Superior interpersonal skills. Ability to build relationships with Cisco channel sales and marketing staff, resellers and customers. Excellent project management, negotiation and decision-making skills. Dedication to partner and customer success.

Work independently with only minimal management oversight.
