We currently have an opening for a Sr. Mechanical Engineer to lead projects in the design, development and engineering of hardware products for next generation of TelePresence products within the TelePresence Technology Group part of our Emerging Technologies Business Group - ETBG.

TelePresence is a virtual presence experience that uses advanced visual, audio, and interactive technologies to create an in person experience at a virtual conference table. TelePresence is one of the more recent examples of how Cisco is changing the way we work, live, play, and learn.

The ideal candidate must be a hands on person with a demonstrated ability to design and manage projects with minimal supervision, driving a cross-functional team and leveraging technical knowledge and project management experience. This position provides a great opportunity for developing the foundation for either technical or management-level career advancement.

Job Responsibilities:
-Conceptualize, plan and execute the design and development of system packaging for TelePresence products.
- Hands on person, executing project management responsibilities of the system packaging development process.
-Consults with internal cross-functional units for definition and design of product requirements.
-Defines, directs and participates in the design verification of testing of new products.
-Leads the resolution of field and product problems.
-Initiates informal reviews of ideas and technical objectives within and across business units.
-Provides leadership in the identification and creation of new techniques to advance the processes used in the development of system packaging.
-Interfaces cross-functionally and lead team collaboration extending beyond work group.
-Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment.

Requirements:
-10+ years of experience working as a Mechanical Engineer with a large hi-tech company
-Expertise in a 3D solids based MCAD system, specifically Pro Engineering
- Expertise in designing products in sheet metal, plastic injection molding, pressure forming and die castings.
-Proficiency with a thermal and structural analysis s/w tool.
-Experience in managing and working with external industrial design consultants.
-Technical leadership designing, testing and project managing the development of products for worldwide market, meeting regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent verbal and professional presentation skills
-Takes ownership for initiatives and drives on-going evaluation and success.
-Applies high degree of ingenuity using broad parameters for foundation of decisions. Makes product level decisions independently.
-Typically requires BSME or equivalent training with 10+ yrs related exp. Preferred: MSME or equivalent.
