Software Development Manager, TelePresence Infrastructure

We have a current opening for a Software Engineering Manager to work in the TelePresence Technology Group of our Emerging Technologies Business Group (ETBG).

TelePresence is a virtual presence experience that uses advanced visual, audio, and interactive technologies to create an in person experience at a virtual conference table. TelePresence is one of the more recent examples of how Cisco is changing the way we work, live, play and learn.

Responsibilities:
This position will be involved in leading a team focused on developing a software application(s) for Cisco’s TelePresence Infrastructure products. You would lead engineers to architect and implement the required code.

Outstanding written and verbal communication and cross-team collaboration skills. Proven ability to people manage and grow the team professionally. Proven ability to influence internal and external engineering teams.

Experience managing through the entire software development process: working with marketing peers to gather/understand requirements, translating these requirements into an SFS, creating schedules and staffing estimates, driving strong coding practices, supporting the test team and delivering high quality, maintainable, scalable code on schedule.

Proven management experience with engineers involved with developing libraries, frameworks for multithreaded Java/C++ and OO design and debugging, Web Services, preferably working in a Linux environment. Some experience managing software integration and experience in Java, Web services, SOAP, XML, JBoss, Hibernate, SIP, CDRs.

Excellent logic and problem solving skills.

Preferred:
Knowledge of SIP signaling and communications concepts
Knowledge of call admission control and related applications
Knowledge of audio/video standards, CDR (Call detail Records) a plus
General knowledge of Cisco Call Manager useful.
