The TelePresence Technology Group of Cisco's Emerging Technologies Business Group is looking for a talented and motivated Software Engineer to work with us to expand TelePresence into new domains. TelePresence is a virtual presence experience that uses advanced visual, audio, and interactive technologies to create an in person experience at a virtual conference table. TelePresence is one of the more recent examples of how Cisco is changing the way we work, live, play and learn. Join our high energy team involved in developing several next generation TelePresence products. The project needs a senior engineer in a collaboration project to allow resource management for scheduling a variety of video endpoints ensuring optimal network usage.

Responsibilities:

Working on the Cisco TelePresence Manager, this Software Engineer would lead and engage with a variety of cross product engineers working on creating applications for TelePresence users. These applications range from managing and allocating network infrastructure resources to guarantee call, ensuring optimal network usage, bandwidth optimization as well as enabling applications such as Billing for TelePresence users. This engineer would collaborate with colleagues to drive a strong architecture and design, and then implement required code.

Work with the following:
-Different BU's to leverage functions from their products.
-Other Software Engineers on the team to insure that the proper architecture and design are implemented.
-Dev Test to ensure that the essential quality is preserved and that the most critical bug areas are addressed.
-CA/TAC and engineering to help support the product and provide the proper training for the TAC team.
-Assist the Escalation team to debug and answer questions when customers report issues.

Requirements:
- Technical Software Engineer, 8 years or more experience total in software development.
- Experience in one or more of the following
- Java/J2EE, multi-threading and synchronization, object oriented design and modeling
- Relational DBMS, Hibernate, WebServices, Jboss and related technologies
- An understanding of SIP based call connections and related audio/video standards
- Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and succinctly a definite plus.
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field required. Masters degree in related field desirable

Preferred
- SIP signaling and communications applications
- Call admission control and related applications
- One or more patents in call metrics, SIP or other VoIP technologies a significant plus.
- Familiarity with VMWare or related virtualization technologies desirable
